If you like mythology, visit the Archaeological Museum of Ibiza, rather than an obligation, is an outstanding bill.

The first thing is to climb to Cathedral Square. It can rise in a small minibus that is available to tourists, but we recommend the ascent on foot. It is far more tired, but recognize the minibus is complicated and much more  find out your schedule. Besides the tour, the slower the rise, to appreciate places that are lost on the descent. More than anything by the attempt to maintain balance through the narrow streets of stone, so no heels.

The building from the outside does not look like a museum. Initially born as a chapel, San Salvador and throughout history has hadmany different uses. The highlights were undoubtedly use as headquarters of the Brotherhood of Mariners and the University. In fact, by its strategic location, is a privileged command post.

Before we get (and pay a nominal fee) do not expect the famous goddess Tanit, a bust that can be found in many souvenirs and very typical of the island. A reply tosale along with other historical elements obviously also replicated to take home are available at the entrance.

The story step by step

In the first leg of the course, many posters explaining the history and sites that have been found scattered throughout the island. If one does not carry a hurry, you can see that after this short explanation, there are some windows that let you see a kind of well. Are remnants of the Muslim wall where you can see details of its construction. This wall extends below ground and can be seencloser in Madina Yabisa .

Beginning with some vessels and instruments of bronze age rather curious path leads to the first Punic and Egyptian gods: Astarte, Melkart, Tanit, Baal-Hammon, Reshef or Bes (giving the original name to the island).

Among the vessels are more modern elements with traditional ingredients griegyou and Roman. In this last period include the original statues, copies of which are exposed to the entrance of the gates of Ses Taules and out of the courtyard. Finish the tour with an exhibition of the Muslim era, which displays several tombstones of the period. The upper outlet of the museum presents a view of Ibiza little known, on the cliff.
